Spray Adhesive

Foam Spray Adhesive

Specialized spray adhesive optimized for bonding foam materials including polyurethane foam, EVA, EPE, and XPS insulation boards. Designed for insulation, packaging, and industrial foam fabrication.

Foam spray adhesive is engineered with a solvent system that bonds effectively to foam substrates without causing chemical damage. This is a critical formulation challenge because expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene (XPS) — two of the most common insulation foam materials — are highly susceptible to dissolution by aggressive solvents such as toluene, xylene, and acetone. Our foam-safe formulation uses a carefully selected blend of aliphatic hydrocarbons and ester-based solvents that provide strong solvency for the adhesive polymer without attacking the polystyrene matrix.

The primary application for foam spray adhesive is insulation board installation in construction and HVAC systems. When bonding XPS or EPS insulation panels to concrete walls, metal ductwork, or ceiling substrates, the adhesive must provide immediate grab strength to hold boards in place while developing permanent bond strength over 24-48 hours. Our formulation achieves this through a high-tack SBS/CR polymer blend that reaches bonding readiness in 30-90 seconds. The wide fan spray pattern ensures even coverage across the full panel surface, eliminating cold spots where delamination could occur under thermal cycling.

Beyond insulation, foam spray adhesive serves packaging fabrication, mattress manufacturing, and acoustic panel installation. In custom packaging production, the adhesive bonds polyethylene (PE) foam, EVA foam, and polyurethane foam pieces into protective inserts for electronics, medical equipment, and fragile goods. For acoustic treatment, the adhesive secures sound-absorbing foam panels to walls and ceilings in recording studios, theaters, and industrial noise reduction applications. The temperature resistance range of -20 to +80 degrees Celsius ensures bond integrity across seasonal temperature variations in both interior and exterior applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will spray adhesive dissolve or damage foam?
Our foam spray adhesive is specifically formulated to be foam-safe. It does not contain aggressive solvents that dissolve polystyrene (EPS/XPS) or damage polyurethane foam. Always verify compatibility with a small test area when bonding specialty foam materials.
Can foam spray adhesive bond insulation board to concrete?
Yes, our foam spray adhesive bonds insulation boards (XPS, EPS, polyurethane) to concrete, brick, metal, and wood substrates. For permanent structural insulation, we recommend applying adhesive to both surfaces for maximum bond strength.
What is the difference between upholstery and foam spray adhesive?
Foam spray adhesive uses a gentler solvent system to avoid damaging sensitive foam materials, while upholstery spray adhesive is optimized for fabric adhesion and non-staining properties. Foam adhesive provides stronger foam-to-hard-surface bonds, while upholstery adhesive excels at fabric-to-foam bonds.
